DYE SUBLIMATION is a method of applying a printed image directly to a specifically coated surface or product. Thes can be ceramic, metals, glass or anything polyester that can withstand high temperatures.
An image is printed on to a special transfer paper using specially formulated sublimation inks.
These inks with the use of high temperature heat turn from a solid state to a gas state without turning in to a liquid form.
The heat is controlled with pressure and time with the use of a heat press.
The heat opens the pores of the specially formulated polymer coating on the substrate allowing the gas of the sublimation ink to pass through.
As the temperature drops, the pores in the polymer then close. The ink in gas state then reverts back to a solid state then becoming part of the polymer.
